Lucy McGinty, a first grader from Sherwood Elementary, is a finalist in the Arkansas Peace Week state art competition. Her artwork is titled, "Peace Is About Helping." Lucy's artwork will be displayed at the Arkansas State Capitol November 10 -16, 2024. Award winners will be announced at an event at the Arkansas State Capitol Rotunda on November 16. The art winners will be announced at 1pm. These events are free and open to the public.



Our 5th grade students are working collaboratively as they discuss the plot of "Birds, Maps, and Compasses." Together, they are creating a one-pager, an AVID strategy that helps students share their most important takeaways.

Sherwood Elementary doubled up on the Pink Out days this month! Staff and students sported their new "Pink Out" shirts on a special "bonus pink out day" on Thursday. We loved seeing all the pink in support of breast cancer awareness!










We're rounding out the week with an important reminder about the Bus Danger Zone: It’s difficult to see children 10 feet on either side & 10 feet in front of a bus. Make sure your children are aware of this zone!

Next week, Sherwood Elementary is celebrating Red Ribbon Week! We have fun Spirit Days planned each day, while also educating our students about the importance of staying drug-free.
