The theme for tomorrow is Say Peace Out to Drugs, so be sure to show your commitment to being drug-free by wearing tie-dye and 70's swag!
With the help of Robinson Senators from the football team and cheerleading squad, this week the students and teachers at Baker kicked off our Grit and Fit Fitness Challenge! Students showed off their favorite exercises and stretches to demonstrate our commitment to health and wellness.
Be sure to get out and support Robison High School by attending the homecoming game this evening at 7. All Baker students get in free!
This week Ms. Conklin's class researched bats as the nonfiction paired with the reading of Stellaluna. Students used the outdoor classroom to read and journal facts learned about bats. After learning where bats like to roost, the class went on a walk through the nature trail trying to figure out where along the trail bats might choose to roost.
Mrs. Garmon's class continues to explore physical changes of matter. Students used water, food coloring, and Dawn dish soap to determine the reaction that would occur when the soap touched the food coloring.
Kindergarten students explored careers. In the career assembly, they stated what they wanted to be when they grow up. Students then paraded around in their decorated "career hats".
Are you looking to buy a house? Well Ms. Conklin's 2nd grade spooktacular writers are selling their haunted houses. After reading the newspaper home section for ideas the kids came up with ideas for making their for sale writing detailed and appealing to a buyer. The "for sale" ads are even paired with pictures of their haunted houses with marvelous moon backgrounds created by the owners with the help of Mrs. Anderson.
Mrs. Henry's math students used the analogy of the tip of the iceberg to discuss personal characteristics. The tip of the iceberg is what you see on the surface. The unseen, under the surface, is all the hard work that was put in. Students then related that same analogy to mathematics. The answer is the tip of the iceberg and the problem solving is the part of the iceberg that is not seen.
Mrs. Anderson's 2nd and 3rd grade art students are making paper plate masks. They had so much fun! Here's Mrs. Balmat's homeroom class!
